Senior Spotlight - October 2011
Clarycee Smith was born on a farm in Coffee County, Georgia. Her family moved around a few times before settling back down in Coffee County, where she met and married her husband of fifty-nine and a half years. with the promise of a new job they moved to Panama City in 1965.
Clarycee has always been very active in her community. She began working over at her uncle's grocery store, candy counter at age 12 and has been meeting and helping people ever since. she has helped with, local drives, bake sales, school fund raisers, and church building programs to name a few. she has served on PTA's, taught Sunday school and has been a member of the Parker Garden Club for 30 years; serving as its President twice. She began attending Council on Aging fifteen years ago when her husband developed Alzheimer's. She has been active at site 7 ever since and currently serves as their craft leader and wears other hats as needs: food quality tester, pie cutter, story reader, bingo caller...well, you get the picture.
When she is not at church or site 7, her family keeps her busy. She has three beautiful daughters, seven grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.
