Seniors with Disabilities
The Bay County Council on Aging has a
program that has been specifically designed for Developmentally Disabled Persons
who are ready to enjoy their retirement years. This program allows the
person to "graduate" from the standard training and day programs where skills
are taught and people are prepared for employment and to join other senior
adults who are enjoying their active retirement
years.
The program is unique in nature as it is considered a
nontraditional Adult Day Training Program. It is nontraditional because it
allows the person to interact with other retired persons from the community,
while remaining active and involved in community activities. The program also
provides training in activities of daily living, arts & crafts, volunteer
opportunities and personal enhancement.
