Meals on Wheels

Meals on Wheels are delivered to homebound, elderly clients, age 60 and older, who are confined for health reasons and are unable to prepare meals.  Depending on the client's location, either frozen meals or hot meals are delivered once a week or 5 days a week by dedicated and caring volunteers.

The volunteers who deliver meals often provide the only contact with these homebound senior adults.  It serves as a daily check to ensure that everything is okay.

All meals are approved by a registered dietician and meet 1/3 of the recommended daily allowance for a senior adult.  While there is not a set fee for the meals, donations are encouraged and help to fund the program.

Anyone can make a referral for the Meals on Wheels program.  Once a referral is made, a home visit will be made with the senior adult to determine if they are eligible for the program.  More than 275 homebound senior adults receive Meals on Wheels annually.  Over 65,000 hot, nutritious meals are served to these homebound senior adults annually.
